Scientific Name: Latania loddigesii

Light Requirement: Full sun. It performs best in bright, open locations where the crown can develop good color and structure.

Height: Typically 20–30 ft. tall in Florida landscapes, with a canopy spread of about 10–15 ft.

Growth Habit: Slow-growing single-trunk fan palm with stiff, rounded fan-shaped fronds. Young palms often show attractive bluish-green to silver-blue foliage, giving the plant a bold tropical look.

Hardiness: USDA Zones 10a–11; moderately cold sensitive and may show damage from frost or hard freezes; drought tolerant once established; moderate to high salt tolerance, making it useful for many coastal Florida landscapes.

Maintenance Info: Low to moderate maintenance. Plant in well-drained soil and give it plenty of sun for best color and form. Remove dead fronds as needed and use palm fertilizer during the growing season. Because of its stiff fan leaves and eventual trunk height, give it enough space away from tight walkways, walls, and structures.
